SPS Mission Statement
The mission of The Society for Psychoanalytic Studies is to create,
support and explore clinical, and cultural applications of contemporary
psychoanalysis as represented in Division 39 of the American
Psychological Association In these various endeavors, SPS will provide
a respectable community of all individuals and organizations who are
dedicated to preserving the values and practice of contemporary
psychoanalysis and to share the goal of bringing thoughtful conversation and events to the mental health community and the public at large The objectives of SPS are consonant with those of Division and in accordance with the Code of Ethics of the American Psychological Association.
The purposes all are:
(A) To inspire interest in psychoanalytic concepts in both the
professional and lay community within the Twin Cities and
surrounding community.
(B) To offer opportunities to broaden skills and increased
knowledge of psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
(C) To better enhance the general mental health of the Twin
Cities and surrounding area by helping to make available
professionals skilled in the knowledge and technique of
psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
